Ikaalinen College of Crafts and Design

Ikaalinen College of Crafts and Design (IKATA) has a nationwide reputation as a provider and developer of initial and further vocational education in the culture sector. IKATA offers vocational upper secondary level tuition in 18 different programmes leading to Vocational Qualification in Crafts and Design (Artisan) or in Visual Expression (Graphic Design) as well as Further and Specialist Vocational Qualifications.

The Lybecker Institute of Craft and Design is Finland’s oldest educational institute within the field giving tuition in the Finnish language. The institute was founded as early as 1844.  In the vocational qualification of craft and design students can orient themselves to the design and production of textiles and clothing or to the interior decoration and furniture branch. The orientation areas of the vocational qualification in visual expression comprise graphic design and visual and media arts focused on craphic arts. In the studies of the vocational qualification of audiovisual communication multimedia or animation can be chosen as orientation options. In addition to handicraft, skills emphasized in the studies are entrepreneurship, design and marketing skills, aesthetic vision and cooperation.

Satedu Educational Federation of Municipalities (website in Finnish)

SATAEDU Educational Federation of Municipalities is situated in the western region of southern Finland. SATAEDU, Satakunta Vocational Institute, offers various kinds of  diploma-oriented education and training in six different towns; Huittinen,  Kankaanpää, Kokemäki, Ulvila, Nakkila and Harjavalta. In addition, the Vocational Institute offers education and LLL in adult education, VET training, guiding and pre-training, job starts, short training courses and combination studies between general and VET education. The number of students is some 2000 and the number of  teachers 300.

Sataedu is public, non-profit training organization which has been acting as coordinator and in partner position in several European LdV Mobilities, Development projects, Transfer of innovation projects and Comenius projects. SATAEDU has  ISO 9001 and 14001 certificates and it is a member in international VOCEX, ArtECult and IOA networks.

 

Vocational Education Centre Sedu

Vocational Education Centre Sedu is a multidisciplinary VET institution. Sedu provides high quality education and student welfare for more than 4200 students. Sedu has some 250 teachers and some 150 other staff. Majority of the students start their studies at the age of 16. Together with Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences , Sedu forms Seinäjoki Joint Municipal Authority for Education.

Sedu provides studies in the following study fields: Business and Administration, Culture, Health and Social Sciences, Natural Resources Sector, Tourism, Catering and Home Economics, Technology and Transport Sector. Diversified adult education increases the educational supply further.

Omnia, the Joint Authority of Education in Espoo Region

Omnia,  The Joint Authority of Education in Espoo Region, is a multisector joint authority of education offering vocational training at 10 locations around Espoo area. Omnia’s affiliated municipalities comprise Espoo, Kirkkonummi and Kauniainen.

Omnia offers vocational training to young people and adults who have completed comprehensive school or have passed the matriculation examination. The range includes twenty vocational qualifications, dozens of vocational and special vocational qualifications, extension and career training, apprenticeship training and youth workshops.

Vantaa Vocational College Varia

Varia provides second-degree vocational education to both the young and adults. Our objective is that students learn the basic knowledge and skills required for employment in their chosen field. Our three-year degree (120 study weeks) gives the students the same options for further education as senior high school.

Vantaa Vocational College Varia provides second-degree vocational education in six braches of study: culture; transportation; hotel, restaurant and catering; health and social welfare; as well as electrical engineering and technology.

Varia’s global cooperation

Vantaa Vocational College Varia actively participates in global cooperation. Our international operations focus on student exchange between European countries. Our college also takes part in numerous European projects on education and youth development. As a general rule, international operations are organized on a branch-specific basis and are directly connected to instruction or its development. We have established partners in Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, France, Estonia, and Sweden. In addition to European educational establishments, we have carried out projects introducing Vantaa and Finland in Asia, Austria, and South America.

 

Luksia, Intermunicipal Federation of Vocational Education in Western Uusimaa

Luksia offers vocational qualifications and tailored personnel training to meet the needs of individuals, private companies and public institutions. Each year we cater for approximately 7,000 certificate and adult students with a staff of over 400. Luksia operates in two main units in Lohja (60 km from Helsinki) and in Nummela (40 km from Helsinki), and it is owned by 10 member municipalities in the Western Uusimaa region. Luksia, Intermunicipal Federation of Vocational Education has three operational entities:

• Luksia, Adult Education Institute of Western Uusimaa
• Luksia, Apprenticeship Training in Western Uusimaa
